Eat Local!

This past weekend I decided to try out a little local restaurant called Burnells Farmhouse Eatery, here in Gunnison. Burnells is a cute little food truck set up next a large garden with seating and yard games. The best part about it was how green they were!

For starters, most of their ingredients were locally sourced. They even had a list on the back of the menu that told you where in Colorado their food came from. As I looked around the garden we were sitting in, I realized I was seated amongst growing onions and greens that were used in the meals we were eating!

Besides all the food tasting AMAZING, it was served on sustainable products. Everything was compostable, the plates, the coffee cups, the water cups, the silverware, literally everything!

As I was ordering my food, I noticed this sign saying that a penny per dollar spent was donated to the Gunnison Trails. I thought this was particularly awesome as the Gunnison Trails is personal to me as an active user of all the wonderful public lands in our valley. Gunnison Trails is truly amazing in maintaining all of our many miles of trails and public spaces.

I had such an awesome experience at Burnells and I most definitely will be going a lot more often. If you're in the area you should check it out, and if not, I suggest looking for local restaurants near you that serve locally sourced food and use sustainable products. Remember #shopsmall and #supportlocal!
